NEW DATE DUE SOON FOR CENTRE FOR BRITISH PHOTOGRAPHY
Unfortunately the Centre for British Photography has had to postpone our visit scheduled for next Tuesday.  They have been battling an evening electricity supply problem since opening, and have, so far, been unable to overcome it.This is an enormous disappointment.  However, it would have been tricky trying to see the photographs in a gallery with no lights on! We will reschedule as soon as possible and will let you have a new date for the Gallery soon. In the meantime, we are currently working hard at devising a new event for next Tuesday, and will give you an update at the end of the week.

Original event description:

At the end of January the Centre for British Photography will open its doors in Jermyn Street. It is a significant new space for British photography.  The Centre will host exhibitions, a programme of public events, an archive, and a shop. It aims to provide a dedicated home for British Photography in all its diversity. The aim is to have exhibitions curated independently by outside curators and institutional partners as well as to provide access to the Hyman Collection and in so doing present an expansive overview of British photography past and present. More here

On the 21st February we will visit the Centre to hear from Tracy Marshall-Grant, The Centre's Deputy Director, about the background to this initiative, what it means for photography in Britain and plans for the future.  Tracy is the curator for the Chris Killip exhibition that some of us have seen at the Photographers Gallery and which will now head up to Newcastle.
