Hilary Powell

Artist Hilary Powell works with the photographic image in many different ways embracing and adapting the potential of ‘light writing’ - from roller skating collaborations with multiple flash cameras to tin can pinhole cameras in a Welsh Tin Works. She values and works with what is often overlooked – from spaces to materials and people. Her most recent collaborative project Bank Job involved printing money and explosions and its sequel POWER has a collaboration with sun light at its core. Here community and cultural energy production is literally powered by the sun with the photographic processes of solargraphy, cyanotype and chlorophyll photography playing a central role.

With extraordinary vision and endless energy, through her practice Hilary subverts many norms, using photography as a critical tool.  Nearer the event, Hilary will provide more information on the project(s) she would like to talk to us about.  This will be a very different kind of evening for us all!  In the meantime, to wet your appetite visit  her website.
