We will meet at Whitechapel station in the Mile End Road at 6 pm sharp. The assembly point will be outside Zam Zam’s shop on the corner of the Court Street new station entrance to the Elizabeth and District lines. What Three Words: Lonely.tens.digs.
This is a lively area with the market and many brightly lit shop windows. There is also a splendid viewpoint towards the City standing on the traffic island in the middle of Mile End Road.
Inspired by the recent society meeting where we touched on the ideas of taking a series of images on a theme or stopping every five minutes to take a picture from where we are standing, some of us may want to try this out during the evening.
We will cross to the south side of the busy road and walk away from the busy commercial area. We will move to a grid of streets with historic tenement blocks. These are fascinating and atmospheric. The streets here are dimly lit so you may want to deploy a tripod or use flash. A good opportunity to practice some low light photography.
We will work our way down to the Commercial Road where we cross over to arrive at the Lahore Kebab House for dinner at 7 pm. It is not expensive.
The restaurant does not have a license to serve alcohol. It sells soft drinks but bring your own bottle. They are fine with this. A map is given below.
After the walk do pick and print your best image (an A4 from your home printer will be fine) so that we can view them after the New Year on the 2nd January Washing Line.
